Welcome to UU Sankofa.org - the home of the UU Sankofa Project!

Sankofa is an Akan word which means: "to go back and reclaim the past so we can move forward; so we understand why and how we came to be who we are today."

Visually Sankofa is expressed as a mythic bird that flies forward while looking backward with an egg (symbolizing the future) in its mouth.
